The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), as well as the new Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) will both temporarily entitle travellers to discounted (and in some cases even free) emergency healthcare in europe. However, EHIC and GHIC do not cover the cost of bringing you back to the UK in the case of an emergency – which is where your travel insurance will step in.
Most of the policies available through albert & eddie will cover emergency medical expenses in Europe, provided you have suitable cover in place and have fully declared your medical history. It’s important you let us know about any existing medical conditions during the quote process, as if you don’t and you later need emergency medical treatment due to an existing condition, you may not be covered for any related costs.
